|CHAPTER THREE - ROPES, CHAINS AND SLINGS|
3.0 Ropes, Chains and Slings
Rope is one of the most important tools of the rescue team. Rescuers will use steel wire rope, natural fibre rope and synthetic fibre rope. All types have their advantages and their disadvantages, but provided the rescuer has a thorough knowledge of the characteristics and Safe Working Load (SWL), of each rope and the care and maintenance required, all can give extended periods of valuable service.
