Instructor Qualifications

Instructors are recruited and selected to teach this course for their ability to understand the overall picture of emergency management and the importance of effective leadership and influence in working towards the goal of saving lives and protecting property.

Instructors for the course should meet one or more of the following criteria:

Current experience in emergency management, preferably in each of the four phases of emergency management;

Knowledge, skills, and successful experience as leader of a group assigned an emergency management task/function; and

Knowledge and skills in management, administration, law, and other professional disciplines related to the responsibilities of those in the emergency management field.

The instructors should be willing to share their own experiences to make participants feel better about sharing their experiences.

The course contains small group activities that require one or more experienced facilitators to work with the participants.
