![]() | NGO Responses to HIV/AIDS In Asia (UNDP, 1992) |
UNDP and the editors wish to acknowledge the contributions of all those who made this collection of cases possible:
The development of these cases was initiated during two case development workshops held in India and Thailand during 1991 and 1992, organised and supported by the UNDP Regional Project, "Development Implications of HIV/AIDS". Glen Williams led and facilitated the participants; Donna Bjerregaard and Karen Morita assisted at these workshops and subsequently supported all stages of drafting.
Some of the cases were field-tested during the UNDP-sponsored workshop "Developing NGO-Business Partnerships", held in Hua Hin, Thailand in June 1992. The participants, together with representatives of the NGOs depicted in the cases, provided valuable comments and suggestions.
Particular gratitude is due to the officers,- staff and volunteers of the Gujarat AIDS Prevention Unit and the South India AIDS Action Programme of India; the Duang Prateep Foundation, the AIDS Counselling and Training Centre, and the Planned Parenthood Association of Thailand; and the Community AIDS Services of Penang in Malaysia. These all gave willingly of their valuable time and information and were gracious enough to share their experiences, both good and otherwise, in the hope that this would help other NGOs to develop effective HIV/AIDS interventions.
