I am using Greenstone 2.39 , Windows 98 and trying to build a small cololection
of 3 documents using metadata.xml. The files are simple text files with .txt in
extensions.

I get an error on building the collection using the collector. the fail.log and
build.cfg are empty.

the import.log shows the following:

* 3 documents were considered for processing
* 3 were processed and included in the collection

The Error seen on the greenstone page is shown below

The collection could not be built (buildcol.pl failed).
The build log contains the following information:

Total bytes in document:text: 5523
create the weights file
creating 'on-disk' stemmed dictionary
creating stem indexes
*** creating the info database and processing associated files
build: ERROR: buildcol.pl failed

Please restart the collector and try again.

Any help in understanding where the process is breaking is appreciated
