Hello Professor Sukhbaatar,

We wish your university much success with the digital library.

As you may already know, Greenstone 2 is the stable version that most
organisations tend to choose. Greenstone 3 is the research version and
still under development. It offers nearly all of what Greenstone 2 can
do (and more) and has the same interface, as it is intended to be
familiar to people already used to version 2.

If you--or colleagues joining you in your endeavour to create a digital
library with Greenstone at your university--have any questions, then
these can be sent to:
- greenstone-users@list.scms.waikato.ac.nz if they are related to
Greenstone 2 (e.g. 2.80)
- greenstone3@list.scms.waikato.ac.nz for Greenstone 3 questions
- greenstone-devel@list.scms.waikato.ac.nz for Greenstone developers'
and development questions

The page
states that there the software provides support for Mongolian (courtesy
of Mendbayar Ichinkhorlo).
The same page explains what is meant by the phrase "supported languages":
"Supported languages
The Greenstone interface has been translated into many languages.
However, the system is growing and language interfaces become out-dated
as new features are added to the software. For each language, we are
hoping to find a volunteer who undertakes to periodically maintain the
interface for that language. Typically only the Greenstone interface is
translated, but for some languages the Greenstone Librarian Interface
and other documentation is also translated."

If you know of volunteers fluent in your language who can keep
Greenstone's language interface up to date for Mongolian, could you
contact Anna Huang at lh92@cs.waikato.ac.nz?

Finally, you may find the following pages helpful to get your work started:
- http://www.greenstone.org/download is the page from which the software
can be downloaded
- http://wiki.greenstone.org/wiki/index.php/GreenstoneWiki this is the
Greenstone Wiki, which contains pages explaining how to install the
software and tutorial exercises on using it, such as at
- http://wiki.greenstone.org/wiki/index.php/Greenstone_FAQ
- http://wiki.greenstone.org/wiki/index.php/Tutorial_exercises

All the best,
