I have just tried this on my Greenstone (latest version) and it works
fine, unless I deselect all collections, in which case the previous
selection comes back. But I think this is ok, as it doesn't make sense
to have no collections selected.

I compared the 2.72 version of the preferences macro file
(macros/pref.dm) with the latest version, and I can't see anything that
would make it not work in your version.

Have you changed the pref.dm at all?
