I put the style sheets and the collect.cfg file as the documents inside
the style demo collection. The important bit is the following:

collectionmacro Style:cssheader '
<link rel="stylesheet" href="/gsdl/web/images/style.css"
type="text/css" charset="UTF-8">'

which overwrites the default html written into the page's HEAD tags.
Use /gsdl/collect/gsarch if you want to generate a runtime HTML link to
your collection directory - that's what I did for the collection-specific
style files.
