Hi Paul

This is a "feature" of DateList, that it displays the Year and Month
down the left hand side of the page.

I have attached a modified perllib/classify/ file which has a
new option: no_special_formatting. Setting this turns off the special
date display.
Shut down GLI, delete the classifiers.dat file from ~/.gli or
C:/documents and settings/username/application data/greenstone/gli then
rerun GLI and the option should appear.

With this option on, the classifier is not treated as a DateList, and
will use VList format statements, not DateList.
