I agree totally! When I participated several panel
presentations with Ian Witten on Greenstone, I thought about we should
have Greenstone user group meetings in US and I've talked to Ian about
this.
I think this is a great idea!

Good morning,
I was wondering if others feel that there should be some initiative
in
moving toward having a yearly Greenstone conference in the mainland
US.
It's a fairly large geographic region with myriad schools and
businesses
to partner together. I have attended several conferences now on
open
source software and they have all been well attended. ( Fedora,
dSpace
) and it just makes sense to me that such a conference should take
place. A model might be the SIGUCCS conference (It is sometimes
in
Canada as well as the US). It's not particularly on open source but
it
moves yearly from one school to another for hosting purposes.
People
volunteer to present and hold sessions. There are also
pre-conference
training sessions.
What say you, Greenstone Wizards?
