Hi Rajendran,

You only need to ask your questions once -- posting to the list and the support form multiple times will not get your questions answered any faster! We do our best answering support questions, but we can't always do them immediately.

In regards to your questions on hierarchical structures:

It is possible to build hierarchical metadata structures with PDF documents, but you have to assign the metadata yourself using "metadata.xml" files (Greenstone cannot extract this data automatically). Building hierarchical browsing structures is described in depth in Section 2.2 of the Developer's Guide, so you should read this. You should look carefully at the demo collection: examine one of the hierarchy structure files (eg. keyword.txt) in the "etc" folder, and look at the metadata.xml file in the "import" folder. You also need to add Hierarchy classifier entries to your collect.cfg file (look at the demo collection's collect.cfg file).

Alternatively, you might like to try the Greenstone Librarian Interface tool that comes with the newest version of Greenstone (version 2.40a). This provides a graphical interface to Greenstone's functionality, and allows you to build hierarchical metadata using a point-and-click interface. I recommend you download the latest version of Greenstone and try this new tool.
