Subject RE: [greenstone-users] Stable URL & BOOKMARKS
Hi,

Here are the files. (import.pl goes in /scripts doc & docproc go in
perllib)

use

import.pl -OIDtype idnumber <collname>

to make it go.

I have included an example metadata.xml file

No- just standard favourites/bookmarks ala Internet
Explorer/Netscape/Mozilla -

I don't know of any facility in greenstone store 'bookmarks' (or other
information from the user) on the server side at the moment. I believe
there is work on controlling access to collections with a username and
password; once your have that I think adding bookmarks/a bookbag wouldn't
be too hard to do.

Also -there is a company http://www.glsn.com/ who support a customised
version of greenstone that *may* already do this. (Better ask them - I
don't know for sure)

I am sure you could bookmark individual pages as easily as you can bookmark
individual documents in greenstone.

Try:

format DocumentText '<h3>[Title]</h3>\n Bookmark: <a href="
/cgi-bin/library?a=d&c=demo&cl=CL3.2.9&d=OFF77613E0-49F7EC9E-ON69256D9D-00085B15-69256D9D-00085B43-ntu-edu-au">[Title]</a>\n<p>[Text]'

this works for me.

Let me know if you have any troubles,

s.

Would a bookmark link, as you have talked about it here, be similar to a
check box or other marking system that the user could mark to indicate
items that would be added to a personal list? - or a placeholder to which
they could return in a longer document, such as in the case of texts, to
continue reading where they left off? Thank you!

Making a bookmark link in format statements without the extra stuff should
be fairly easy.
