Hi Adam, welcome to Greenstone - btw you should go ahead and get version 2.71, it's much nicer. Second you probably need to download the latest java runtime environment (jre) - it's free on - go to java.com - email me off list if you have any other basic needs, I'm low on the totem poll, however should be able to get you through the starting gates. I have Greenstone 2.70 installed on my computer, and am running Windows XP.
I have no digital library experience, but the library where I work is
interested in starting some digital collections. I am having problems
getting Greenstone to run. I click the Start menu-All Programs-Greenstone
digital library software v 2.70-Greenstone Librarian interface. At this
point I get a prompt that says:
Checking GSDL
Checking PERL
Checking JAVA
Running the Greenstone Librarian interface...
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
at org.greenstone.gatherer.Gatherer.init
at org.greenstone.gatherer.Gatherer.
at org.greenstone.gatherer.GathererProg.main
I don't know what to do at this point
Can anyone help?
