| Boiling Point No. 22 - August 1990 |
This is a device for quick boiling water for tea or washing. It will use any small fuel - chips, twigs, straw etc. and needs very little fuel to boil up to 2 pints of water in a few minutes. It is light and portable and so can be used indoors or outside, even in a wind. As made by the Kelly Kettle company in England and described here, it is too expensive for most families in the third world but could easily be made more cheaply by a small local workshop.
It may be useful for cold countries where hot water is frequently needed for tea or for washing etc. The kettle was bought to our attention by a German gentleman on a fishing holiday in Ireland.
Supplies may be obtained at discounted prices for quantities from Kelly Kettle Co. Ltd.,
