Part of what is needed to implement long-term preservation of digital objects is bit-stream replication into administratively distinct environments.  I believe that the best approach to such replication is that implemented in LOCKSS.  (http://www.lockss.org/lockss/Home)

A wiki on this topic (http://wiki.greenstone.org/wiki/index.php/Greenstone_and_LOCKSS) includes only, "Figured it would be well to get the page started - afterwards someone can help fix the data…".

Has anybody implemented Greenstone/LOCKSS creation?  What of the code and documentation is available to be shared?
