Hello Katherine,
We met the same issue for our greenstone based library, so I made a script wich create an url for each document, builded like http://www.oursite.com/name_of_the_collection/id_of_the_document_generate_by _greenstone And thanks to the urlrewriting from apache, we display the document page (url from greenstone with a=d), on wich one we have added a parameter, like this (http://www.nzdl.org/cgi-bin/library.cgi?e=d-00000-00---off-0cltbibZz-e--00- 1----0-10-0---0---0direct-10---4-------0-1l--11-en-50---20-about---01-3-1-00 -0-0-11-1-0utfZz-8-00&a=d&d=HASH013b29ffe107dba1e52f1a0c_662&showrecord=1) to display the notice page of our document. Then, I made a script wich update the metadata.xml file in the import repertory with this url for our document, and then when we rebuild the collection, we have a new field wich we map to the dc.identifier for OAI server. You can see all of this at http://www.manioc.org in anyone of the four left collections, this is an example of url for a file http://www.manioc.org/patrimon/HASHe3a2444cc811cb3fcbf350 , and you can also contact me if you have any questions.
