i installed v2.40a, MG searching worked strange
searching "digital library" OR "electronic library" kept to be postprocessed as conjunction
I may be wrong but check it before you session start (it would be silly)
ideas : your students could try searching for multilingual terms with greenstone - in texts (not in standardized fields) at least english, german, french and without stemmer (there is no for french)
cut&paste searching in russian collections

> Dear Greenstone Makers and Users,
> Do you have any great ideas for my library and information science

> For instance, a current assignment is to compare search engines with

> Things they could evaluate:
> - precision
> - recall
> - fallout
> - generality
> User-oriented measures
> - coverage ratio
> - novelty ratio
> - relative recall
> - recall effort
> By the way, we are really looking forward to Ian Witten's visit on Monday.
