Thanks!!! This is exactly what I was looking for; and also thanks for the example. I take it that there is no limit to how far down these
subject-browsing levels can go [i.e.: recurse [If that's a word?]
I take it then that there would also be no limit on the number of browsing levels down that I could go for, say, a country button??? eg.:
Country of Far Away
County of the Stuffy Count
Town of Whatever-Its-Name-Is
Village of Hamlin
Hamlet of Tinyplace
No.1 Allen's Alley
[etc. until I run out of disk space???]
The folks we're working with on the grant will want to enable browsing levels down to extremely fine granularities of subject and
geographical location buttons. [I'm not just being silly and/or theoretical. I'd ask Ian when he comes up to New York next month, but the
grant application is due very soon.]
Thanks,
Dave Williams

Hi David
Are you talking about browsing classifiers? Eg a subjects button on the
navigation bar, which gives you a top level of basic subjects, which can
be further exanded to more specific subjects?
You can do this in greenstone, see e.g.
http://www.nzdl.org/cgi-bin/library?a=d&cl=CL1&c=hdl <http://www.nzdl.org/cgi-bin/library?a=d&cl=CL1&c=hdl>
The subjects classifier for the humanity development library.
This can be achieved by using the Hierarchy classifier with either
hierarchical metadata (e.g. Trucks|Trucks military|Trucks military -
amphibious)
or using a supplementary file containing the hierarchy. (see section 2.2
of developers guide)

Katherine
