Subject [greenstone-users] Hosting multiple libraries built on greenstone on the same server

I am a librarian with the WiderNet Project, a non-profit organization,
aiming to improve digital communication and access to information for
students and scholars in developing countries by producing off-line digital
libraries (more info at www.widernet.org).

Among the resources we have been granted permission to use are several
collections built on greenstone that we received on cd. Currently, we have
been saving these cds in their entirety to the eGranary and having users
open the .exe file to install greenstone for each collection, if they wish
to access it.

However, since we have limited space on the drives that we send out holding
the eGranary, we are interested in discovering whether there is a way to
allow users to dowload greenstone once from a "software" page and then open
any of the greenstone-based collections without having to run the
installation each time. Has anyone had experience with centralizing
greenstone in this way? If we did this, could we then remove the greenstone
installation files from the folders where each collection is stored?
Thank you for any help or advice you may be able to offer.
