Subject [greenstone-users] Newbie's Questions
I am just a new user. I heard that whenever we import anything new to an
exising collection, even just one new document, the Greenstone has to
re-process the indexes for the whole collection. Is it true? so we better
get all the documents at once and build the collection?

Second quesion is that, is it possible to use Greenstone to do targeted
search based on Metadata. For instances, I just want to search a particular
article written by an author in the collection. Can Greenstone limit its
search on that author's materials in the collection based on the metadata
[creator] ? (Note: I am not talking about searching all the articles
written by this author, which would be like searching within the boundary of
metadata [creator]. Rather, I am talking about do a normal section or
document level search on articles that are written by that author. It's more
like dynamically pull out a subcollection from the collection based on the
metadata [Creator] and then do the search on that subcollection.) is it
possible? I know that one immediate and obvious answer is build the
subcollection right in the beginning. But, there are many kinds of metadata
besides [Creator], I intend use a various combination of them to limit my
searching, which i dont think would be achievable if I have to build static
subcollections beforehand.

Thanks in advance for the hlep,
