I build on Windows XP and put the collection on Linux (gentoo) and FreeBSD 4 all
runing intel hardware and I do not have any problem with infodb.
But I use qdbm instead of gdbm.

Either way, the issue is with gdbm not greenstone.
When in doubt - rebuild.

I am guessing that this issue dissapears with greenstone 3? because it
uses a different indexing/search appliance.

I thought the gdbm files were only affected by endianness, but
I've also encountered gdbm files not working when moved from one computer
to another even when both were the same endianness and using the same
version of gdbm (this was between linux on x86 and freebsd on x86).

I'm not sure quite what the problem is, unfortunately.
