The above cases have been illustrations of industrial projects. Another major sector where developmental projects have a profound impact on the environment are water resources development projects. This may include construction of dams and reservoirs to meet the demands of irrigation and/or power. Table 6.3 (pages 149-156) lists the major potential negative impacts due to these projects and appropriate mitigation measures to minimize them.
