Figure

Discuss the pros and cons of technological change in relation to the environment. Review the effects that political and economic institutions may have on use of the environment. Ask participants to give examples of attitudes and beliefs in their cultures which exert influence over individual use of resources. Discuss areas (of the major driving forces) that humans are able to influence to prevent further environmental degradation. Which forces may be difficult to influence?

What are some attitudes or beliefs in your country that have significant influence over the individual use of resources?

What are some of the pros and cons of technological change as it has affected the environment in your own country?
