Summary: Based on interviews with 1,011 children (from 11-16 years old) and 1,011 adult care-givers randomly selected for interviews in a systematic health survey, responses were analysed using an inductive thematic approached and then categorised for quantitative presentation. For adults the main concern is their economic situation which causes them problems in the social, educational, governance and health areas. For students difficulties focus on learning environments in addition to poverty since education is seen as the gateway to upward social and economic mobility. The basis for resilience in both categories though are faith, family unity, “service”, effort, morals and honour (each area is explained in the paper). |
