Rationale: Use the iodine-starch test to demonstrate that the cotyledons are a food source for the seed.

Materials: peanut iodine (MIF kit) Positive and negative controls.

Procedure:

1. Demonstrate the iodine-starch test.
2. Split a peanut in half
3. Add a drop of iodine.
4. Wait about a minute for the color change.
