Lesson: Eaux souterraines

Rationale: Show that artesian wells flow up like a fountain due to internal pressure caused by differences in water levels.

Materials:

water
2 funnels (science kit)
rubber hose (science kit)

Procedure:

1. Attach funnels to the ends of the hose.
2. While holding the funnels at the same level fill both to capacity.
3. Raise one funnel higher than the other which causes the water to bubble up like a fountain in the lower funnel.
