Appendix I - AIDS action plan

How does society treat people with AIDS?

Some people are afraid to get close to a person who is infected with HIV because they are worried they might catch AIDS. These people do not realize that AIDS is hard to get. They do not understand that they cannot get AIDS simply by touching or being in close contact with someone who has AIDS. As a result, many AIDS patients feel alone and rejected at a time when they most need the warmth and support of family and friends. Remember, it is the disease that it. bad, not the person who has it.
