| 6. Strengthening links between the health sector and law enforcement personnel |
In many countries, primary health care personnel are actively engaged in health promotion within their community, but this work often does not cover drug and alcohol problems. Even when there is a community action plan for the prevention of drug- and alcohol-related problems, the law enforcement agencies tend not to participate fully. This chapter explains why the cooperation of law enforcement agencies is needed and how it can be achieved.
