|10. Preparation and Reproduction of Cards|
Worldwide, two different sizes of catalogue cards are in general use.
Large libraries, e.g. university libraries, generally use the standard size 12.5 cm X 7.5 cm particularly in order to save space. Others, including many documentation centres and most SATIS members, use the larger standard size 14.8 cm x 10.5 cm. If you use the larger size, you will have more space to provide users with additional information.
It is advisable to use catalogue cards uniformly cut and punched with a hole in the lower centre. You can purchase them ready made or made to order locally. Thus, cards can be secured with the rod in the drawers from accidentally falling out and/or being taken out by unauthorized persons.
