2.3 How to teach?

This question relates to two important elements: the encounter between teacher, student and subject matter; organisation and arrangements to be made to properly guide the encounter. When considering the learning situation it is crucial to bear in mind the following questions: How to select and arrange subject matter? Subject matter being; anything offered to learn, to practice, to form an opinion etc.

Which learning activities should the students carry out?

Learning activities being the way to absorb subject matter through practice, listening, discussions, demonstrations or group work.

How to assist and coach students?

The didactic work mode selected, determines the style of assisting and coaching. The didactic work mode is the way to confront students with subject matter through a demonstration, a class discussion, practical work etc

Which teaching and educational tools should I use?

Teaching and educational tools refer to those means and materials necessary in teaching such as the blackboard, the overhead projector, video equipment, experimental set-up, a questionnaire etc.

How to organise student groups?

Organising here refers to the way students may be grouped, for instance in classes, in groups of five students or individually.
