About the authors

David and Diane Wood have designed and implemented a variety of conservation education programs and curricula in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Africa and the Caribbean. They have masters' degrees in science and environmental education from Cornell University and were conservation education volunteers for the Peace Corps in Paraguay from 1977-1981.

David Wood, in addition to working with international conservation education, teaches environmental science at Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C.

Diane Wood, with the International Institute for Environment and Development in Washington, D.C., directs a program supporting citizen environmental groups in developing countries.

Heather Bentz, who provided the illustrations for this manual, is a freelance illustrator and fine artist. She is a fundraiser with World Wildlife Fund/U.S.
