| Part One: Business Skills |
In this module, the participants should be made aware of possible markets and their own most likely market. They must also see the need to serve the wants of the potential market. They should have the opportunity to discuss any experiences they have had with tourists/visitors. The possibility of selling through an agent such as a shop or hotel should be considered.
In order to keep track of what they can supply to the market, participants should be aware of the need to keep some records in the form of cards or other ways of counting their stock.
The following printed material and audiotape should concentrate on tourist demand for types of goods and prices.
Resources
Printed material: Provide photos, pictures, publicity brochures of tourists visiting the country.
Audiotape: Interview some tourists from different countries. Ask:
· Where do you come from?
· What goods have you bought while here?
· What goods would you have liked more of?
· What do you think of the prices?
· Do you like fixed prices or bargaining?
