Module 3 Pricing

This module is about the cost of manufacture and the pricing of goods or services. The participants need especially to be made aware of cost items such as materials, time, transport and so on. The concepts of gross and net profit are introduced, as well as fixed and variable costs.

Participants also need to be aware of what pricing their market will stand and what they can reasonably charge for their goods and services.

The following chart and audio interviews will help in this awareness.

Resources

Large chart: Investigate the average price of some of the most common craft goods, and the average fee paid to performers or workers.

Put these prices into a large chart.

Audiotape: Interview some craft people about

· how long it takes them to produce the item
· customer reaction to the price
· whether they bargain with the customers.
