Political system

A democratic country based on Pancasila (The - Five Basic Principles) as its philosophy and Udang-Udang Dasar 1945 (the 1945 constitution). The formation of the Cabinet is done an is headed by the President, and the President is responsible to the People’s Advisory Assembly and the Legislative Assembly.



Social Welfare

The Government provides its retired officials and their widows pensions and health insurance. The Government is also responsible for welfare of orphans, old age people as well as invalids. The public welfare is not only the responsability of the government, but the whole community of the people. In this case, beside private social organisation the Family Welfare Movement (PKK) organised by the wives of government officials and women’s organisations, plays an important role in improving the welfare of a family as the smallest unit in a society

Education

Mostly all children of 7 to 12 years old follow the primary education. The duration of compulsory education has been increased from 6 to 9 years. The formal school system is 6-3-3 pattern. This structure represents primary, lower secondary and upper secondary levels respectively. Education at the tertiary level is provided by universities, colleges and polytechnics. Out of school education is also conducted for those who do not follow the formal education

Economy

The economic growth ranges from about 6 to 7 per cent. Contribution of industrial sector to national production is 22.3 per cent, while from agricultural sector it is only 18.5 per cent.
