Chapter 7: Financial Implications

The following table gives the estimated cost of establishing the basic computer facilities needed in the first phase for any UNEVOC national centres and associate centres. The estimation covers the use of one Database Server, 10 PC’s Workstations, one System Printer (Line,) one Laser Printer, one Inkjet Printer, one Hub, the netware, the assorted software, the RDBMS and application software that establishes the database, and the site preparation (UPS, etc..):

Future true cost will be evaluated as it occurs. It will involve the cost of:

Establishing links with internal national UNEVOC center and associate centers and other specialized national institutions through national networking.
Establishing links with international databases and document centers and libraries through information providers such as ORBIT and INTERNET, the cost will be incurred to UNEVOC national centers only.
Computer facilities expansion due to increase in information volume and users.
Establishing links with regional UNEVOC centers via national networking.
