Farm Management and Production Economics
Service of FAO supports sustainable development through improved
information and methods for analyzing farm household systems
Background
FAO Farm Management and Production Economics Service
(AGSP) is one of four principal services of the Agricultural
Support Systems Division . AGSP focuses its activities on improving
the understanding of different farm-household systems by farmers, extension
agents, researchers and policy planners, through the provision of economic
and systems information and improved analytical methods. The work
of the Service is organized into two inter-related functional areas: (i)
Farming Systems Approach to Development (FSD);
and (ii) Farm Resource Economics and Farm Data Systems.
The Service comprises four permanent professionals
and supporting associate professional and general service staff in FAO
Headquarters, closely linked to four officers working in FAO regional and
sub-regional offices. Collaborative links are also maintained with
other FAO services and divisions, and with international agricultural research
and development organizations.
