International Conference for The PARADI Association and the Fisheries Society of Africa

African Fish and Fisheries: Diversity and Utilisation

Grahamstown, (Republic of South Africa), 13 - 19 September 1998

BACKGROUND

Following the very successful PARADI Conference held in Senegal in November 1993 and the Fisheries Society of Africa (FISA) Conference in Nairobi in August 1995, the two organizations have invited their respective representatives in South Africa to arrange the next meeting of each organization in South Africa. Members of both the PARADI Association and FISA are involved with fish and fisheries throughout Africa and it was therefore decided to combine forces to present a unified meeting.

The Conference venue will be the famous 1820 Settler Monument conference center, one the most modern of its kind anywhere. Abundant affordable accommodation is available at the adjacent Rhodes University.

In the traditions of both the PARADI Association and FISA, the Conference will be inclusive of a wide range of interests of marine, estuarine and freshwater fishes.
