The Commission on Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture - established in 1983 as the Commission on Plant Genetic Resources - is a unique intergovernmental forum where countries who are donors or users of germplasm, funds and technology can discuss, on an equal footing, matters related to plant genetic resources for food and agriculture. In 1995, the FAO Conference decided to broaden the mandate of the Commission to cover all components of biodiversity of relevance to food and agriculture, and to change the name of the Commission accordingly.
Current membership of the Commission is listed here.
