Centre For Alternative Technology, Machynlleth, Wales

Stove and household energy workers visiting the UK will find a visit to the National Centre for Appropriate Technology (CAT) an enjoyable and informative day in the Welsh countryside.

The centre has working examples of numerous technologies appropriate for the developing world as well as for ecologically minded people in the UK.

There are several different types of wind pumps and wind turbines, solar energy collection systems, river turbines, foundry work and blacksmithing, low-cost building materials and construction methods.

Admission to the centre is free, food and accommodation are available and short courses are held throughout the year on energy, building and other technologies.
