2.75 is a rather old version of Greenstone and one that I don't know
about. I am guessing there may be a setting that can be changed in your
apache configuration file. If that doesn't work, see option 2.

1. a. Make a back-up copy of apache web server's httpd.conf file and
then open the original in an editor. The httpd.conf file tends to be
located inside your apache installation's "conf" folder.

b. Go to the part of the file where you defined the ScriptAlias and
Alias. In my old file apache conf file, this part looks like:

ScriptAlias /greenstone/cgi-bin ".....Greenstone/GS281/cgi-bin"
<Directory ".....Greenstone/GS281/cgi-bin">
Options None
AllowOverride None
</Directory>

Alias /greenstone ".....Greenstone/GS281"
<Directory ".....Greenstone/GS281">
Options Indexes MultiViews FollowSymLinks
AllowOverride None
Order allow,deny
Allow from all
</Directory>

c. Make sure that your "Alias" section has the line "Allow from all"
near the end, as mine does above. This allows requests from external
connections to your web server.

2. If the above didn't work, or if your httpd.conf file already
contained "Allow from all" in the Alias for your Greenstone, then
perhaps you would try the following:

If your machine is running Windows 2000/XP or later, or if you're
running a Linux system or a Mac OS, it may be better for you to try out
the latest release of Greenstone, which is version 2.83. It can be
downloaded from http://www.greenstone.org/download

Version 2.83 includes an apache web server (2.2.11) for both Windows and
Linux/Mac systems, and the setting to allow external connections can be
adjusted as described in the Greenstone 2.83 installation instructions
at
http://wiki.greenstone.org/wiki/index.php/2.83_Release_Notes#Binary_distribution.

Anupama
