Hi Jim,

Well, Greenstone v2.50 has certainly been a long and winding road... I've spent
the last few months (with a lot of help, of course) working almost entirely on
getting v2.50 ready for our contract with UNESCO. Yesterday we sent what we hope
is the final CD-ROM image, so now that is done, we can start thinking about a
v2.50 web release. I'm planning to do this next week.

The UNESCO CD-ROMs are always difficult but hugely beneficial. We have updated
the manuals (mainly to highlight the Greenstone Librarian Interface), tidied up
the 11 documented examples collections (which we think are a great way to learn
about common tasks with Greenstone), and made many, many improvements and bug
fixes, especially to the GLI.

And, throughout all this, UNESCO have been translating almost everything into
French, Spanish and Russian. The items we now have in English, French, Spanish
and Russian include:

- Most of the greenstone.org website
- All five Greenstone manuals
- Unix and Windows Greenstone installers
- Greenstone interface
- Greenstone setup scripts
- Greenstone README file
- Greenstone Perl module strings
- GLI scripts
- GLI README file
- GLI interface
- GLI help text
- Documented example collections

I'll send out another e-mail next week when v2.50 is released.

All the best,

Michael
