First, please check that you are using Greenstone version 2.51.
Secondly, try using a single macro file in your collection's macro
directory, called
Inside this you can put your macro code.
You can put code from several macro files into this one file - each
section must start with the appropriate 'package xxx' line.

Hopefully, this will work for you.

macroprecedence is used to determine which macro to use if there are
several applicable ones. I'm not sure how it affects collection specifc
