This is a strange problem. Do you get the list of plugins ok?
Try shutting down GLI, deleting classifiers.dat (~/.gli/classifiers.dat,
or C:Documents and SettingsusernameApplication
DataGreenstonegliclassifiers.dat) then restarting. Does the list get
loaded properly?

If not, are there any errors on the terminal window? check that there
are some classifiers in greenstone/perllib/classifiers.

Try opening up a terminal, going to the greenstone directory, run
'setup' (windows) or 'source setup.bash' (linux), then run 'perl -S
classinfo.pl -xml -listall'
and 'perl -S classinfo.pl -xml AZList'
Do you get nice XMl output?
