Subject [greenstone-users] Processing .doc files when building collection, Greenstone 2.83 on Mac OS 10.6.2
Aloha -□

I'm working through the Greenstone tutorial exercises as part of a library science class - I have Greenstone installed on my MacBook (OS 10.6.2) and ran into a strange problem when trying to build a collection that included .doc files.

With Greenstone in Librarian mode, I get the error message "The file word01.doc was recognised but could not be processed by any plugin." for all four .doc files. □This happens with the .doc files included in the tutorial, as well as any .doc files I try adding to the collection from my own computer. □The .doc files are rejected and do not appear when I preview the collection.

Switching to Expert mode, the error message associated with the first .doc file failing seems to be this:
"import.pl> Converting word01.doc to HTML format
import.pl> sh: line 1: □ 689 Trace/BPT trap □ □ □ □ □/Users/Emily/Greenstone/bin/darwin/wvWare --dir "/Users/Emily/Greenstone/collect/reports/tmp/word01_files" --basename "/Users/Emily/Greenstone/collect/reports/tmp/word01_files/word01" --charset utf-8 --config "/Users/Emily/Greenstone/etc/packages/wv/wvHtml.xml" "/Users/Emily/Greenstone/collect/reports/tmp/word01.doc" > "/Users/Emily/Greenstone/collect/reports/tmp/word01.html" 2> "/Users/Emily/Greenstone/collect/reports/tmp/word01.err"
import.pl> Error executing wv converter:
import.pl> dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libpng.3.dylib
import.pl> □ Referenced from: /Users/Emily/Greenstone/bin/darwin/wvWare
import.pl> □ Reason: image not found
import.pl> Could not convert word01.doc to HTML format
import.pl> gs - couldn't run.
import.pl> GPL Ghostscript 8.63: Unrecoverable error, exit code 1
import.pl> dyld: Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libpng.3.dylib
import.pl> □ Referenced from: /Users/Emily/Greenstone/bin/darwin/wvWare
import.pl> □ Reason: image not found
import.pl> WARNING: No plugin could process word01.doc"

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

many thanks,
