Hi

Have you set the title_header option to any plugins? What version of Greenstone are you using? What kinds of documents do you have in your collection? Just html files?
Please also send the plugin part of the collection's collect.cfg file
(greenstone/collect/collname/etc/collect.cfg)

Regards,
Katherine

Hello all,

A message in the list's archives (sent on 2004/06/25) says "The GLI can only display metadata added in the GLI, or using metadata.xml files, or extracted by the building process".

However, even when I add the 'ex Extracted Greenstone Metadata 1.0' metadata set to my collection (which is already there anyway), the 'enrich' tab doesn't show the 'ex' metadata values (I work with 2.7 on Windows). Is there something I missed?

Any help will be most appreciated

Hello all,

Would Greenstone allow the users to zoom or rotate images from a collection? (or do we have to use an external program to do that? Can Imagemagick do this?)

Any help will be most appreciated

Hi Everyone,
After experiencing problems moving large databases from CDS/ISIS to Greenstone I downloaded the latest version of the software and started again. I have noticed the following problems.
1) When we tried to explode one of ISIS databases containing links to images, the error 'out of memory can not parse metadata.xml' occurs. With the assistance of one of our I.T. consultants we have realized that the size of the produced metadata file in the import folder affects the successful execution of the next stage of the import, which is to parse that file into individual XML files and folders. For example, the failed metadata.xmlfile is 17,000 KB.

2) In trying to build another Greenstone collection from a large ISIS database in the MARC format (this one is purely bibliographic without links to digital files), the import stops at 1828 each time. The database contains 10,000+ records.
The procedure I have used is - I would select Dublin core metadata set and then select explode metadata. I am then requested to either ADD, MERGE or IGNORE individual fields in the MARC record. I then merge some fields with Dublin core and add others as additional DC elements. I am wondering if there is a limit to the number of DC elements which can be added?
Is there anyone out there who might have experienced similar problems?

Thanks
Lucia

Hi Cécile

This should work. Please check the metadata files in your import directory (greenstone/collect/collname/import) and see whether the metadata names are in english or french (they should be english).

In the next release, there will be a new option for importing which will allow you to specify which metadata field to use for the identifiers, so you will be able to use ex.Identifier.

The standard url to a document is <path to library
server>?a=d&c=collname&d=docid
If the document stays in the same collection, and the library address dosn't change, and you have assigned an id, then this url should be pretty persistant.

Regards,
Katherine

Hi Galvin,

OK, it looks like it's having trouble parsing the plugin and classifier information from the server. Can you please try accessing

http://<server>/gsdl/cgi-bin/gliserver.pl?cmd=get-script-options&script=buildcol.pl&xml=&language=en

in your browser and see what the output is.

All the best,

Michael
