Subject [greenstone-users] students to look at Greenstone as an IR system/ ideas?
Dear Greenstone Makers and Users,

Do you have any great ideas for my library and information science
students?

I would like to create an assignment for our Information Retrieval
class to evaluate Greenstone. For things like precision and recall.

For instance, a current assignment is to compare search engines with
boolean queries.

Things they could evaluate:
- precision
- recall
- fallout
- generality
User-oriented measures
- coverage ratio
- novelty ratio
- relative recall
- recall effort

By the way, we are really looking forward to Ian Witten's visit on Monday.

Sincerely,
Karen Medina
