Hello again.

I have done a little more investigation into the Paged Image problem of images not appearing. As I mentioned in my previous email, I have a prototype newsletter collection using the PagedImage plugin. I have a test installation of GS 2.83 on one of my Linux servers. I copied the collection to this instance and tried to import and build it.

The import produced hundreds or errors. I increased the verbosity to 5 to get more details. It turns out that the errors are generated by the ImageConverter.pm module called from PagedImagePlugin. This file is in $GSDLHOME/perllib/plugins. The problem is on line 369 (of my copy of the file). It reads:

my $convert_command = "convert -interlace plane -verbose $convert_options "$source_file_path" "$target_file_path"";

The syntax of the convert command is incorrect. The proper syntax of ImageMagick's command is:

convert inputfile options output file

I changed this line to:

my $convert_command = "convert "$source_file_path" -interlace plane -verbose $convert_options "$target_file_path"";

I ran import.pl again and the errors went away. The build was also successful. My images now appear as you would expect.

This error may already have been fixed in a daily snapshot but I thought I should let people know in case it has not been fixed yet.

Best to all.

Hello all.

I have a small prototype collection of newsletters for which I am using the PagedImagePlugin. I am running GS 2.80, not the current 2.83 so please take this with a grain of salt.

I have some documents that display properly and some that do not display at all. I looked at my import directory for one of the documents that did not display. I found that there was an image that did not have an entry in the .item file. I added an entry in the .item file for the image and rebuilt the collection. The document now displays properly.

I hope this helps.

Hi Michael,

I'm glad my suggestion helped somewhat; however I'm pretty new to
Greenstone myself (just a month or so) and I haven't reached a point in
which I understand everything yet. That said, your problem could be
something simple like file access permissions on the collection's
archive directory: the web server might not have access to the single
files. Other than that I really don't have a clue. Sorry.
