Yes, that one is a valid url. I guess my problem is not so much Greenstone-related; it's more the case that this XML app I'm using doesn't want to connect to the DTD url. Thanks for your help.

This is the first time I am looking up the URL too, but could you try
the following to see whether this is the one you want:
http://www.greenstone.org/dtd/DirectoryMetadata/1.0/DirectoryMetadata.dtd
