Hi,

Greenstone should be able to import windows-1251 encoded documents ok, but it does need to know how to convert them to utf-8, which it uses internally. In order to do that Greenstone needs to guess what encoding the source documents use, and it's possible it's guessing wrong.

If this is the problem you could force Greenstone to recognise your input documents as windows-1251 by passing a "-input_encoding windows_1251" option to the plugin importing your documents. If that doesn't help please let me know what format your documents are in and exactly what problems you are having with them, and perhaps send me one of the documents off list.

Good luck,

Stefan
