I don't know, although there's always one way to find out :p

For what it's worth, we recently compiled 2.40a on a solaris 2.8 machine
and it all went fine when using GCC and GMAKE for compilation (as well as
the GDBM package being manually specified).

I can't remember the details, but I think it was something to do with
which letter was being used to determine the order vs the letter that was
displayed. There is some code that tries to determine which is the first
usable A-Z letter or digit, and I think there was a bug in that for
earlier versions.

Also, there are issues for accented letters, since different languages
sort accented letters in different places. I think our classifier only
handles ASCII A-Z, although I could be wrong.
