Hello,

I have followed Biju's advice and find indeed
that if I change the name of server.exe in the
home directory (for example to xserver.exe) and
call the Greenstone Server from the Start menu,
the program xserver.exe is loaded and Greenstone
works. I don't know how to see if it is calling
my Apache webserver (which I configured as before
with the new home directory for greenstone2), but
I don't think so since when I stop Apache,
Greenstone still works. It used to be possible to
call Greenstone through Apache with a url like
http://localhost/gsdl/cgi-bin/library.exe but now
not possible since "library" is no longer an
executable file. It would be useful if Greenstone
team colleagues could explain in simple language
what is happening (and perhaps include in the
release notes), since the new situation is
confusing for those of us programming neophytes
who have built a mental model around the old way things worked.

Best regards and
Happy New Year, John Rose of Greenstone Team
